The Institute is a professional body limited by public guarantee-RC: 1056010. It is certified in line with the companies and Allied Matters Act, 1990 by the Federal ministries of education and justice through Corporate Affairs Commission. The Act empowers the Institute to promote the training and learning of political administration and management in a course of study. Apart from its professional education, the Institute is in partnership with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and runs the University's postgraduate and undergraduate courses in Accounting, Bank and Finance, Marketing, Management, Political Science, Public Administration, PhD in Public Policy, and many other courses.

The Institute is committed to promoting professionalism in Politics, Administration, and Management through training, research, certification, and collaboration.

  1. Determine what standards of knowledge and skill are to be attained by persons seeking to become members of the profession and improving those standards from time to time.
  2. Research in all types of government operating systems and applications for equipping the society with modern democracy along developmental goals of the masses.
  3. Encourage, advance, and disseminate knowledge, education, practical training and research into the professions.
  4. Promote standards of competence and conduct, and exercise discipline to uphold the required ethical standards so as to promote its skills for the benefit of the society. Conduct examination in the professions and award certificates of professional membership to successful candidates.
  5. Promote and develop programmes for effective administration through manpower development and training by organizing conferences, seminars and workshops.
  6. Promote administration and management of politics among party functionaries and other similar personnel charged with the responsibility of such political functions so as to enhance effective corporate governance.
  7. Form partnership with the Local, State and Federal Governments in order to help in checkmating political manipulations and other political debauchery.
  8. Form and build linkages with international organizations and groups that share the Institute's goals and mission.

IPAM offers a range of career--oriented courses, developed to broaden the skills and knowledge of professionals in the fields of politics, administration and management. The optional courses-- Election Administration and Management, Legislative Administration and Management, Public Administration and Management and Public Policy Formulation and Management are structured into Advanced Professional Diploma and Postgraduate Professional Diploma for candidates to make theirĀ careerĀ choices.

Professional Postgraduate Diploma

Candidate with Degree or equivalent in a related2 field: 6 months

Membership Benefits

In addition to societal, academic, and professional competence, the core benefits of membership are:

  1. Award of Professional membership certificates on completion of the courses.
  2. Rights and privileges to be among the stakeholders as contained in the Institute’s by-laws.
  3. Right to receive free professional journals as and when published.
  4. Right to attend the Institute’s meetings, vote and be voted for.
  5. Right to use professional designations of the Institute’s membership—Associate Member (AMIPAM), Member (MIPAM), Fellow (FIPAM), and Doctorate-Fellow (DFIPAM).

  7. Right to attend the Membership Re-education and Re-training Programmes (MRRP) for upgrading of knowledge and skill.
  8. Members are entitled to the Institute’s customized plaques, medals, car stickers, customized tags, identity cards.
  9. Professional colleagues meeting one on one, would facilitate discussions on mutually benefiting issues and approaches.
  10. More importantly, membership of IPAM would serve as immunity from future legislative ban on non-professionals from public offices.

Undoubtedly, with the acquisition of the general knowledge and skills in Politics, Administration and Management, members of the Institute will not only be uniquely equipped to excel above others in the labor market, but also benchmark their professional expertise in all areas of human endeavor.


Direct Membership

The Institute's Direct Membership programme is in line with the Council's recent resolution to directly professionalize some public and private Executive officers who have in addition to acceptable academic and practical qualifications, performed their jobs according to the ethical standards of professionalism. It is available in three grades only, namely, Full member, Fellow and Doctorate Fellow.

Member; Institute of Political Administration and Management (MIPAM)

Member of the Institute of Political Administration and Management (MIPAM) is the starting point of membership.

Entry Requirements

  • Candidates for full membership of the Institute must hold a minimum of first degree or its equivalent in Management/Social Sciences and with at least, seven (7) years job experience as a manager or its equivalent in a recognized organization.
  • Apart from Social or Management Sciences, a degree or its equivalent holder with a minimum of ten years work experience as an executive officer in a recognized organization can likewise be admitted if he/she is successful in the screening exercise.

Fellow, Institute of Political Administration and Management (FIPAM)

The Fellow of the Institute of Political Administration and Management (FIPAM) is the highest membership grade.

Entry Requirements

  • Fellowship applicant must possess a minimum of master's degree in management or social sciences and must have worked in a recognized organization as a manager/senior officer for not less than seven years.
  • Master's degree holder in a field other than Social or Management Sciences who has worked as executive officer in a recognized organization for not less than ten years can be admitted.

Doctorate Fellow, Institute of Political Administration and Management (DFIPAM)

The IPAM Doctorate Fellow is a nonacademic doctorate. It is among the Institute’s membership categories, mainly reserved for its outstanding Fellows. However, other Fellows of other recognized professional bodies who have equally served for a long period of time may be awarded upon meeting the requirements as stipulated clearly

Entry Requirements

  • Upon possessing a minimum of master's degree, all candidates for the Institute's Doctorate Fellow must be Fellows of recognized professional bodies and have a minimum of 10 years job/practical experience.
  • In addition to these, all candidates for this membership grade shall be subjected to Professional Research Project of not less than 6,000 words. The project is professionally designed to examine the understanding ability of our prospective mainly Fellows' practical skills and knowledge.
  • It is also designed to educate Doctorate Fellows on how to analyze and present findings relating to Politics, Administration and Management, which are the core professions of the Institute.
  • In addition to these, the project work may be used as an opportunity for many organizations wishing to use it to resolve problems concerning their organizations.


Studentship

In order to fulfill the Institute's core objective of availing Nigerians as many as possible into the Institute's professional membership, we have minimized the students' entry requirements to the basic qualification of 5 credits, including Mathematics and English language at ordinary level of education..

COURSE DURATION:

Course duration for Membership Qualifying Training is a minimum of one year on exemption and three years without exemption.

EXEMPTIONS:

We have provisions for exemption from the subjects of the lower classes to holders of sufficient qualifications which indicate enough coverage for the Institute's syllabus.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
  • 1. The IPAM Doctorate Fellow is a nonacademic doctorate. It is among the Institute’s membership categories, mainly reserved for its outstanding Fellows. However, other Fellows of other recognized professional bodies who have equally served for a long period of time may be awarded upon meeting the requirements as stipulated.
  • 2. Candidates who do not have the educational qualifications and practical experience for direct membership as specified therein are advised to go for the Institute's Membership Qualifying Examinations and pass first.

  1. Receive the Institute’s Teller from the issuing bank
  2. Fill the Teller properly as specified
  3. Submit the filled teller to the bank
  4. Obtain the duplicate of the filled teller for evidence of payment
  5. Receive an access pin from the Bank
  6. Go to any nearest cyber cafƩ or any other internet medium
  7. Use the pin number to access our application form
  8. Ensure the form is filled correctly and completely
